Best Overall: Faithful Counseling

Faithful Counseling

Faithful Counseling

4.3

Faithful counseling provides professional mental health treatment from a Biblical perspective. Their goal is to increase psychological and spiritual wholeness.

To get started, you’ll be asked to complete a short questionnaire about the issues you want to address. The information will be used to match you to the most suitable therapist. You’ll most likely be matched with a therapist in less than 24 hours. Your answers will also be a good starting point so a therapist can learn a bit about you.

All counselors are licensed and have at least 3 years and 2,000 hours of hands-on experience. Additionally, each counselor has identified themselves as a practicing Christian. They’ve shared their testimony and verified that their beliefs are in line with Faithful Counseling’s Statement of Faith.

Faithful Counseling doesn’t require you to reveal your real name or any other identifying information. Instead, you can choose a “nickname” when you sign up. You will be asked for emergency contact information which will only be accessed if the counselor believes that you or someone else might be in danger.

You’ll receive unlimited text messaging with your counselor any time of day or night. And you may also schedule phone, live chat, or video sessions, which may be an additional fee.

The rates range from $40 to $70 per week. You may cancel your membership at any time.

Best for Picking Your Own Counselor: Cornerstone Christian Counseling

Cornerstone Christian Counseling

Cornerstone Christian Counseling

Cornerstone offers a variety of face-to-face counseling services in Colorado, but they also provide online Christian counseling to people who are not able to make it to one of their offices.

Counselors are typically available Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. They use an online platform called WeCounsel. It’s a HIPPA-compliant telehealth service that ensures your information will be kept confidential.

To schedule an online Christian counseling appointment, you can call or e-mail Cornerstone. They will find a counselor who best meets your needs—unless you’ve already looked through their directory and found someone you prefer to work with.

Their therapist directory provides you with a picture and biography of each therapist. It also explains each therapist’s credentials and areas of expertise.

Once you’re assigned to a counselor, you’ll begin scheduling appointments with that person. If you find that you and your counselor aren’t a good match, you can request to work with someone else.

They offer five different pricing levels, depending on how much experience your therapist has. Prices range from $55 for a 45-minute session with a counseling student to $175 per 45-minute session with a licensed professional with an advanced certification or more than 10,000 hours of clinical experience.

Active-duty military members and veterans are eligible for reduced rates. They request that you provide documentation of your service before granting you a lower rate.

Your health insurance may cover the cost of counseling but Cornerstone does not bill insurance companies directly. They are willing to provide you with the paperwork that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

They don’t bill insurance directly because they want to respect your privacy and they don’t believe they should have to give you a mental health diagnosis to get treatment.

Best for Free Live Chat: Groundwire

Groundwire

Groundwire

Groundwire doesn’t offer professional therapists or licensed mental health professionals. Instead, the site is staffed by Christian coaches who volunteer their time. You can chat with a Christian coach free of charge.

Groundwire is part of the Jesus Cares Outreach, an aggressive media initiative of Champion Ministries. The founder, Sean Dunn, wanted to find ways to leverage media and technology to share the love of Jesus Christ with youth and young adults.

Volunteer coaches are available to chat twenty-four hours a day, and they are prepared to listen, encourage, and point people toward Jesus and Biblical truths. The Groundwire website provides a clear Statement of Faith that outlines exactly what the site stands for.

They offer a free seven-day video series that will help you grow in your faith. Simply enter your information and you’ll receive a text message with a video link every day for one week. The videos introduce you to people who are learning to grow in their faith.

There’s also a prayer wall where you can post any prayer requests you have. Prayer requests are reviewed by moderators but are usually posted within 24 hours. You can also read over other people’s prayers requests and click on the “I prayed for this” button if you’d like.

If you’re looking for a church, they also offer a church directory. Simply enter your zip code and you may get some recommendations for local churches you can attend.

Chatnow volunteers are available any time of day or night. They say their mission is to “assist people who are feeling lost, addicted, sad, confused, and in pain—to help them find a new hope and a new purpose.”

Chatnow’s website offers a clear statement of faith that reveals their beliefs about the Bible. They offer a newsletter and many articles about topics ranging from guilt to connecting with God.
