Faithful Counseling provides professional mental health treatment from a Biblical perspective. Their goal is to increase psychological and spiritual wholeness.

To get started, you’ll be asked to complete a short questionnaire about the issues you want to address. The information will be used to match you to the most suitable therapist. You’ll most likely be matched with a therapist in few hours to a few days. Your answers will also be a good starting point so a therapist can learn a bit about you.

All counselors are licensed and have at least three years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience. Additionally, each counselor has identified themselves as a practicing Christian. They’ve shared their testimony and verified that their beliefs align with Faithful Counseling’s Statement of Faith.

Faithful Counseling doesn’t require you to reveal your real name or any other identifying information. Instead, you can choose a “nickname” when you sign up. You will be asked for emergency contact information which will only be accessed if the counselor believes that you or someone else might be in danger.

You’ll receive unlimited text messaging with your counselor any time of day or night. And you may also schedule a phone call, live chat, or video sessions, which may be an additional fee or may be included in your plan.

Best for Picking Your Own Counselor : : Cornerstone Christian Counseling

Verywell's Rating

Cornerstone Christian Counseling
  • Price: $55 to $175 per session
  • Is Insurance Accepted?: No. Offers reimbursement receipt
  • Communication Options: Video Chat

Cornerstone offers a variety of face-to-face counseling services in Colorado. Still, they also provide online Christian counseling to people who cannot make it to one of their offices.

Counselors are typically available during a wide variety of hours including nights and weekends, but each person's schedule will differ. They use Zoom for video calls. The platform is HIPAA-compliant which ensures your information will be kept confidential.

To schedule an online Christian counseling appointment, you can call or e-mail Cornerstone. They will find a counselor who best meets your needs—unless you’ve already looked through their directory and found someone you prefer to work with.

Their therapist directory provides you with a picture and biography of each therapist. It also explains each therapist’s credentials and areas of expertise.

Once you’re assigned to a counselor, you’ll begin scheduling appointments with that person. If you find that you and your counselor aren’t a good match, you can request to work with someone else.

They offer five different pricing levels, depending on how much experience your therapist has. Prices range from $55 for a 45-minute session with a counseling student to $175 per 45-minute session with a licensed professional with an advanced certification or more than 10,000 hours of clinical experience.

Active-duty military members and veterans are eligible for reduced rates. They request that you provide documentation of your service before granting you a lower rate.

Your health insurance may cover the cost of counseling, but Cornerstone does not bill insurance companies directly. They are willing to provide you with the paperwork you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

They don’t bill insurance directly because they don't want insurance companies to come between you and quality counseling by messing with your treatment decisions such as who you can see and how often.

What Is Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling incorporates spiritual principles into mental health treatment. A Christian counselor may bring up biblical issues or may pray with clients. They may also talk about faith-based information while discussing mental health treatments.

Licensed Christian counselors can diagnose and treat mental illnesses, such as anxiety and depression, while also addressing spiritual needs.

Is Christian Counseling Right for Me?

If you are interested in treatment for a mental health issue, and you’d appreciate speaking with someone who has a Biblical perspective, Christian counseling might be right for you.

You don’t necessarily need to share the same faith, and you don’t have to incorporate Biblical principles into your appointments.

Is Christian Counseling Really Effective?

Since Christian counselors have the same degree and experience as other mental health professionals, their treatment should be equally effective.

Their willingness to incorporate faith into their practices is likely to be welcomed by clients looking to see a Christian counselor.

Studies show that people appreciate working with a therapist who share similar religious beliefs.

Does Christian Counseling Offer Services to Non-Christians?

Yes. Licensed mental health professionals cannot discriminate against people due to religion, and their code of ethics does not allow them to do so. They also cannot force their beliefs upon their clients. Therefore, Christian counselors do provide services to non-Christians.

How Much Does Christian Counseling Cost?

Like all outpatient therapy, the fees of Christian counseling vary. The price depends on many factors, such as your counselor’s degree and level of experience. Another factor is the area in which you reside.

In-person therapy sessions may range from around $60 an hour to more than $175 an hour. You might expect to pay anywhere from about $65 a week to $175 a week for online therapy.
