Buddy has been in recovery since July 1989 and was a writer covering alcoholism content for Verywell and its predecessors for about 20 years. He is a founding member of the Online Al-Anon Outreach Committee. Despite years of research and experience, he's still asking questions and discovering surprising answers concerning this cunning, baffling, and powerful disease called alcoholism.


BuddyT has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

After years of recovery, I'm still trying to find all the information I can. Although my own recovery experiences have been through a 12-step program, I know there are many other approaches that work.
