John Loeppky
I'm continually thankful to be able to write about disability and health, to challenge what is expected of disabled journalists, and to support others who want to develop their knowledge.
John has been writing about disability, health, sport, and media for more than a decade. He started his career as a journalist after a chance encounter with the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper and has continued to write professionally ever since.John's work is informed by his athletic career, where he competed in wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby. He likes to say that he went to a bunch of cool events—traveling across North America—but never to anything particularly important. After sport, he began working in disability art and culture, an industry he continues to work in today.John is a member of the Canadian Media Guild and the Canadian Association of Journalists
John is currently an MFA student at the University of Regina. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (Distinction) from the same institution.
