She started off her career as a health reporter at the El Paso Times, where she wrote about the medical community, advances in healthcare, and a wide range of medical problems. As a staff reporter for Vox Media, she wrote about health topics such as cosmetic procedures, bariatric surgery, fitness, disabilities, and body image.
In 2019, Nadra edited "America's Mental Health Crisis," a book for young adults released by Greenhaven Publishing. She wrote the 2018 book "Recognizing Microaggressions" and edited the 2019 book "America's Mental Health Crisis"—both for young adults.
Nadra has bachelor's degrees in American Studies and English and Comparative Literary Studies from Occidental College, where she also received a master's degree in teaching. In addition, she studied abroad at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England.
