Shawna is a Durham-based contributing writer for Verywell Mind and instructor for The Center for Creative writing online, where she leads classes focused on writing through trauma to truth. Her teaching and writing are equally informed by indoctrinated heterosexuality. As a hetero-married adult and mother of three, Shawna accepted her own queerness and broke from societal norms. She is driven to write on difficult topics that support others in recognizing their own marginalizations in order to break free from societally imposed limitations wherever possible.
