Dr. Tanya Feke has firsthand experience with Medicare and Medicaid. As a primary care physician, she worked on the front lines caring for and advocating for patients who relied on these programs. She expanded her knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid by taking clinical leave to pursue training in utilization review and medical necessity compliance from 2013 to 2014, consulting with hospital networks nationwide. She then returned to clinical medicine to work at an urgent care clinic in southern New Hampshire from 2014 to 2015 and visited Medicare beneficiaries in their homes for wellness check-ups in 2016. She has since returned to utilization review and keeps a close eye on the evolving world of Medicare.
With a passion for patient education, she has published two books, Amazon best-sellers "Medicare Essentials: A Physician Insider Explains the Fine Print" and "Idiot's Guides: Medicare" with the goal to inform the public about how to avoid the common pitfalls of Medicare. Her website Diagnosis Life remains a hub of health and wellness information, free to the public.
A graduate of Boston University in 1997 (BA in Biology) and 1998 (MA in Medical Science), Dr. Tanya Feke completed medical school at the University of Massachusetts in 2003 and residency training in family medicine at the University of Connecticut in 2006. In 2013, she received the Health Information Technology Leadership Certificate from the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Feke is also a long-standing recipient of the American Medical Association's Physician Recognition Award with Commendation.
