Why John Burns Is Mentally Strong

John empowers people to live a healthy, pain-free life. He wants to show people that they can exercise and get healthy at any age and even push the limits beyond what they think is possible.

  • How to develop a positive mindset and why that’s so important
  • Why hope is an essential component to a healthy mindset and how to cultivate it
  • How to view setbacks and challenges as learning experiences
  • Why unbridled optimism isn’t a good thing
  • How Tom Brady stays focused on the things he can control
  • How to push yourself outside your comfort zone and why it’s important to do
  • How to find your intrinsic motivation (and how doing so will help you reach your goals)

What You’ll Learn About Mental Health and Mental Strength

Sometimes, people assume that you only need mental strength when struggling with a mental health issue. But that’s not true.

Mental strength is the key to reaching your greatest potential. For one person, that may mean building enough mental muscle to be able to hold a job. For someone like Tom Brady, building more mental strength is key to helping him win Superbowl championships.

In fact, trying to build mental strength when you’re already struggling is much more challenging than trying to build mental muscle when life is going well.

Think of it as physical strength and physical health. Trying to workout in the gym after you’ve developed a physical health problem will likely be more difficult than building muscle when you’re healthy.

No matter what your goals are, a healthy mindset is the key to achieving them. After all, your body won’t do what your mind doesn’t tell it.

Quotes From John

John Burns

You could be 55 or 60 and never have run before, but I promise you, you could run a marathon. You may not be able to run a marathon as fast as someone who's 22, but you can run a marathon.

— John Burns
  • Focus on what you can control. And the first place you can start is your attitude.
  • If you've got a little bit of hope, you can be positive.
  • There's no traffic on the extra mile.
  • If you find your intrinsic motivation, the determination will follow.
